常用用法
- abound是不及物動詞?；疽馑际恰按罅看嬖凇?，可指物產(chǎn)豐富（主語是大量存在的東西），也可指“盛產(chǎn)”“充滿”（主語是生產(chǎn)某東西的地方）。
- abound指“物產(chǎn)豐富”時(shí)用介詞in引出地點(diǎn)；指“盛產(chǎn)”時(shí)則可用介詞in，也可用介詞with引出某物。但當(dāng)含有“某物是特有的或固有的”意味時(shí)，通常用in不用with。

詞語辨析
- 這兩個(gè)短語都含有“盛產(chǎn)”“富于”的意思,其區(qū)別是：
- 1.abound in可以物作主語,表示“某物盛產(chǎn)于(某地)”,也可以表示地點(diǎn)的名詞作主語,表示“某地盛產(chǎn)(某物)”。即介詞in的賓語可以是“某物”，也可以是“某地”。但abound with只表示“某地盛產(chǎn)(某物)”，即主語只能是“某地”，介詞with的賓語只能是“某物”。例如“這小溪里魚很多?！笨烧fThis stream abounds in fish. 也可說Fish abounds in this stream. 還可以說This stream abounds with fish.但不可說Fish abounds with this stream.
- 2.abound in含有“以盛產(chǎn)…為特色”的意味。This stream abounds with fish.只是說“這小溪里魚很多”，而This stream abounds with fish.則意味著“這小溪以盛產(chǎn)魚著稱”?！按说囟噼F礦”最好說This district abounds in iron ores. 而“此地多鼠”則最好說This district abounds with rats。
- 3.abound in還可以人作主語,用來說明品質(zhì)、氣質(zhì)等，如He abounds in courage.(他天性勇敢。); 這里的in不可換作with。
- 4.表示老鼠、害蟲之類有害之物大量出沒時(shí)宜用abound with; abound in有時(shí)也可含有嘲弄的意味，如That government abounded in broken promises. 那個(gè)政府開的空頭支票多得很。
- 5.abound with還含有“供給充足”的意思；而abound in沒有這個(gè)意思。
- 6.英式英語中abound in和abound with都常用；而美式英語中較少用abound with。
- 這四個(gè)詞都含有“豐富”的意思，且都與介詞with連用,其區(qū)別是：
- （1）abound表示數(shù)量充足，側(cè)重“豐富”；teem和swarm表示“到處都是”“熙熙攘攘”，teem側(cè)重“充滿活力”；swarm側(cè)重“運(yùn)動”即大批出沒；overflow則強(qiáng)調(diào)超過自身所能容納的范圍。
- （2）abound常可用以指事物的特性；swarm更適合表示害蟲或盜賊成群出沒；overflow有時(shí)含“充斥”之義。
