among主要用于三者或三者以上，其賓語(yǔ)通常是表示籠統(tǒng)數(shù)量或具有復(fù)數(shù)意義的名詞或代詞。
among有時(shí)相當(dāng)于one of，即“…當(dāng)中的一個(gè)”。among還可引出形容詞最高級(jí)的比較范圍，但須注意最高級(jí)形式出現(xiàn)在among之前或之后意義有所不同。
among的用法比amongsta普遍。元音前，多用amongst（很少在美國(guó)使用），如amongst us；
among與between的比較：among用在三個(gè)或三個(gè)以上的人或物前，between是用在兩者之間, 與and搭配，如between he and me，但不與among搭配，不能說(shuō)among A， B and C。表示在某些物體的兩邊之間時(shí)，不管物體的數(shù)量多少，用between。divide或share一些東西的時(shí)候，單數(shù)名詞用divide between和share between，而復(fù)數(shù)名詞用between或among都可。There is a little valley between high mountains.He divided his money between his wife, his daughter and his sister. I shared the food between/among all my friends.
句子He is sitting among his best friends中，He指的不是他最好的朋友中的一個(gè)，而句子He is among my best friends中的He是我最好的朋友中的一個(gè)；
among后有時(shí)接不可數(shù)名詞，如among the furniture和among the turf。

Someone or something that is situated or moving among a group of things or people is surrounded by them.
