Offset roughing gives good results for climb milling as the offset passes are automatically trimmed to the block extents. This prevents the method from generating small segments.

Down milling (climb milling). As can be seen in Fig. 12.3b, in down milling the cutter rotation coincides with the direction of feed at the contact point between the tool and the workpiece.
