常用用法

policy習(xí)慣上用于討論政府的一些理論和實(shí)踐，或是政府組員間的糾紛以及相關(guān)想法；
Chinese policy，American policy，foreign policy等表達(dá)方式前一般不帶the；
policy解釋為“策略”的意思，有時(shí)可加a，有時(shí)省略。It was policy to consent. It was (a) good policy to consent.The policy of this course is doubtful. 從句中the不能省略。
policy解釋為“保險(xiǎn)單”的意思，要注意后面所接介詞on/for的用法。例如a policy on her car,a life insurance policy for $200；
句子I have taken out a fire insurance policy表示我保了火險(xiǎn)。

這五個詞的共同意思是“立場”“態(tài)度”。其區(qū)別在于:stand用于表明某人的觀點(diǎn)、立場時(shí)常用個人感情色彩,雖然它并不排除這種感情是建立在理智或理性基礎(chǔ)之上的; attitude表示個人或團(tuán)體的感情色彩,而這種感情往往是不明說的或不明確的; policy指某人估計(jì)其要求、利益、目標(biāo)或原則之后而制定的一種明確的信念結(jié)構(gòu)形式,也可指行為的一般準(zhǔn)則; position則指較冷靜和克制的態(tài)度,經(jīng)常用于指人在經(jīng)過長時(shí)間的深思熟慮之后作出的決定; posture指確切的軍事部署。例如:
In the temperance question,Mr. Dent takes his stand on total abstinence.在戒酒問題上,登特先生是采取滴酒不沾的立場的。
His attitude towards her amounted to loathing.他對她的態(tài)度簡直就是厭惡。
My position on civil liberties is well known.我對人權(quán)自由的立場是眾所周知的。
It's a bad policy to lend money to unemployed friends.把錢借給失業(yè)的朋友是不太聰明的做法。
The government adopted an uncompromising posture on the issue of independence.政府在獨(dú)立這一問題上采取了毫不妥協(xié)的態(tài)度。
