用法辨析
- recall的基本意思是“想起”,一般指通過有意識地努力去“回憶”“回想”,主語一般是人,有時也可以是物。引申可指“召回”“撤銷”。
- recall既可用作不及物動詞,也可用作及物動詞。用作及物動詞時,可接名詞、代詞、帶疑問詞的動詞不定式、動名詞或that/wh-從句作賓語。
- recall常接介詞from表示“從…召回”; 接介詞to表示“召回”“迫使(某人)恢復(fù)”。
- recall作為動詞時，其后一般接動名詞，不接不定式。I recall meeting him somewhere. 我回想起合他在哪見過。
- recall有時表示“從回憶中重述”，Let me recall a case within my recent experience. 讓我從近期的經(jīng)驗中，回憶重述一個場景。
- recall較recollect的用法更為普遍；
- 在美國，recall可表示“罷免權(quán)或罷免”的意思，Me recall（罷免權(quán)），power of recall（罷免權(quán)）以及the threat of recall（罷免的威脅）這幾種表達中常不習(xí)慣在recall前加the；
