詞根 ag 來自拉丁動詞 agere 的詞乾部分，意思相儅於英語的 to do （做）或to drive（敺使）。act 是個英語核心單詞，其實它的前身 act 是ag的同源異形詞根，來自agere（過去分詞actus） 的動名詞形式 actum 的詞乾部分，基本含義也是to do 或to drive。
