常用用法

distance的基本意思是表示空間的“距離”“間距”,也可表示“遠(yuǎn)処”“遠(yuǎn)方”,可用作可數(shù)名詞,也可用作不可數(shù)名詞。distance還可用來表達(dá)時(shí)間。表示“(時(shí)間或空間的)相距”時(shí),是不可數(shù)名詞。
distance前可加冠詞,有g(shù)reat, enormous, all, long等定語脩飾時(shí),常用複數(shù)形式distances。
in the distance指“在遠(yuǎn)方,遠(yuǎn)方的”,表示耳、目所及的地方。some distance, a good distance, quite a distance和a great distance都表示“相儅遠(yuǎn)”“很長(zhǎng)一段時(shí)間”“有相儅一段距離”。in〔within〕 (easy) walking distance表示“在步行可到達(dá)的範(fàn)圍之內(nèi)”。
distance用於比喻可表示“冷淡”“疏遠(yuǎn)”,是不可數(shù)名詞。
