一、基本用法歸納
1. (表示起點(diǎn))從
He ran all the way home from school. 他從學(xué)校一路跑回家。
Our prices start from ￡2.50 a bottle. 我們的售價(jià)從2.5英鎊一瓶開始。
2. (表出處、來源等)出自，來自，從…而來
This beer is imported from Mexico. 這種啤酒是從墨西哥進(jìn)口的。
3. (表原因)由于，因?yàn)?/p>
They are tired out from planting the corn yesterday. 由于昨天種了一天玉米，今天他們都十分疲勞。
4.(表距離、脫離，分離)離
The house is five miles from the town. 這房子離市鎮(zhèn)有5英里路。
5. (表原料、材料)用，由
Paper is made from wood. 紙用木材做原料。
6.(表避免、阻止、遮蔽)避免，防止，以免
He covered his wife from the man's blows with his body. 他用身體擋住那人，從而使他妻子免遭打擊。
7.(表區(qū)別、差異)由，與(…不同)
I can't tell one twin from the other. 我分不出雙胞胎中誰是誰。
8.(表判斷、觀點(diǎn))由(…來看)，根據(jù)(…來判斷)
From her looks you would say she was about twenty. 從她的模樣看，你會(huì)說她約摸20歲。
9.(表根據(jù)、依據(jù))憑，據(jù)：He played the music from memory. 他憑記憶演奏了那首曲子。
二、用法搭配歸納
1. from…on 從…起
He never spoke to her again from that day on. 從那天以后他再?zèng)]有同她說過話。
2. from…to… 從…到…
He flew from Beijing to Shanghai. 他坐飛機(jī)從北京到上海。
三、語法說明與慣用法說明
1. 有時(shí)其后可接介詞短語
Choose a book from among these. 從這些書中選一本吧。
比較：
I took it from the bed. 我從床那兒(或床上)拿的。
I took it from under the bed. 我從床下拿的。
注意，下面一句用了 from where(引導(dǎo)非限制性定語從句)，而未用from which，其中的where=in the tree，即 from where=from in the tree：
He hid himself in a tree, from where he could see the enemy in the distance. 他躲在一棵樹上，從那兒他可以看到遠(yuǎn)處的敵人。
2. 有時(shí)其后可接when, where引導(dǎo)的賓語從句(可視為其前省略了the time, the place)：
He didn't speak to me from when we moved in. 從我們遷入之時(shí)起，他沒和我說過話。
From where I stood I could see everything clearly. 從我站的地方我一切都看得清清楚楚。
3. 某些由from…to…構(gòu)成的習(xí)語通常不帶冠詞：
from house to house 挨家挨戶
from time to time 不時(shí)地
from day to day 一天天地
from head to foot 從頭至腳, 全身
from beginning to end從頭至尾
from hand to mouth 賺一點(diǎn)吃一點(diǎn), 僅能糊口
