后綴-ment含義和用法
漢：來(lái)源于古法語(yǔ)與拉丁語(yǔ)的名詞后綴-ment 也經(jīng)歷了被英語(yǔ)同化的過(guò)程，所以，它既可以充當(dāng)原生后綴加在動(dòng)詞詞根上，也可以充當(dāng)派生后綴加在動(dòng)詞上。-ment的意思主要是the act or state or fact of～ing(...的行為、狀況或事實(shí)），the condition of being ～ed（被...的狀況），the product or result of ～ing(...的產(chǎn)物或結(jié)果），the cause or means of ～ing(...的原因或手段）等。順便指出，帶-ment的名詞，往往有對(duì)應(yīng)的帶-mental的形容詞。
后綴-ment是抽象名詞后綴，也是我們常見(jiàn)到的一個(gè)后綴，意為“state,quality,act,that which”。
英：suffix forming nouns, originally from French and representing L. -mentum, which was added to verb stems sometimes to represent the result or product of the action. French inserts an -e- between the verbal root and the suffix (e.g. commenc-e-ment from commenc-er; with verbs in ir, -i- is inserted instead (e.g. sent-i-ment from sentir). Used with English verb stems from 16c. (e.g. merriment, which also illustrates the habit of turning -y to -i- before this suffix).
