漢：來(lái)源于希臘語(yǔ)，意為"self"。在元音字母和輔音字母h前，字母o脫落，變?yōu)閍ut,還有變化型為auth-。近來(lái)，源于盎格魯-撒克遜語(yǔ)的self有比auto更常用的傾向。
